BMus (Hons) Music Performance Level 6, 2015
The wide range of modules from musicianship classes to management lessons provided me with deeper insights in interpreting music and identifying musical techniques as well as a better understanding of how music is being written or arranged. I also benefitted from my management classes where I acquired knowledge of how the pop and classical music industry functions. The exposure to different styles of music ranging from classical to pop and jazz taught during piano accompaniment classes, and opportunities to work in ensembles provided a practical and innovative experience for me to grow to be a better musician.
Having been the emcee and performer for two graduation showcases, I had lots of fun and joy working and interacting with my caring teachers and friendly peers during rehearsals leading up to the actual event. With the good support and guidance of my teachers, I also had opportunities to organise my own recitals which were nerve-wrecking yet fun and do piano accompaniment for the pop and western ensembles. Such valuable experience had helped to develop me into a more versatile pianist and accompanist.
I will definitely recommend SRMC to potential students with deep-seeded passion in music and who are willing to strive and persevere under various circumstances and seek to be exposed to different music genres in order to emerge as true musicians.
