ear piercing health risks?

are there any risks with getting your cartilage (middle part of outer cartilage, also known as a conch piercing) pierced? is the facial ligament connected there, or is it only on the upper cartilage/helix?

i also had a piercing on the upper cartilage but i closed it up because the piercing was inside my ear and it swelled up pretty badly. now there is a bump and it’s still a little sore. what are the risks of re-piercing it?

also, what are the risks of the tragus piercing?

for the cartilige peircing on upper cartilidge — if you repierce it, wait a few days then switch it to a samll 10 or 14 kt gold hoop — leave it in but clean good — it will swell up a bit and will feel like a bump due to scar tissue — but I put in the hoop and it helped alot!

When you pierce the cartilage there is an increased risk of infection which can more easily spread. I have seen several nasty infections from this with cartilage destuction. The same applies to tragus piercing. It is best to stick to soft tissue piercing.

There is as you undoubtedly know risk of hepatitis unless all equipment is sterile. I prefer single use equipment which is disposed of after each client
